Transferring to an online high school can feel like a major decision, especially when a student has already completed part of high school somewhere else. Parents often want to know whether previous courses will count, how credits will be reviewed, what the student still needs, and how quickly a new plan can be created.

RCA International offers online school admissions pathways for transfer students, high school students, homeschool families, grades 3-8, international students studying from home, and partner or cohort relationships. High school graduation requires 24 credits, and admissions staff may review prior academic records, evaluate completed courses or equivalents, and build an education or graduation plan.

Step 1: Start With an Inquiry

The first step is to submit an inquiry. This allows the family to explain why they are considering an online high school transfer and what the student’s current situation looks like. Some students transfer because of schedule needs, family moves, health considerations, homeschooling changes, international study from home, or a desire for a different school structure.

The inquiry form should be used for basic information and questions. Families should not use a public form to upload sensitive records unless staff have specifically directed them to a secure process.

Step 2: Talk With Admissions Staff

After the inquiry, families may have an admissions call or conversation. This is the time to explain the student’s grade level, prior school history, completed courses, current courses, and goals. Parents can also ask about tuition, online learning expectations, graduation requirements, and whether RCA International may be a fit.

For international transfer students, families should also confirm online-from-home expectations. RCA International is not a U.S. visa program and does not provide visa sponsorship, immigration services, relocation services, or permission to enter the United States. Students outside the United States study online from home.

Step 3: Provide Records Only After Staff Request

Transfer review depends on records, but records should be handled carefully. RCA International public inquiry forms do not collect transcripts or sensitive documents. If academic records are needed, staff can request them through the appropriate secure portal process.

Records may include transcripts or academic documents that show course names, grades, credits, terms, or completed work. Depending on the student’s background, staff may also need clarification about homeschool work, equivalent coursework, or courses from another system.

Step 4: Staff Evaluate Completed Courses or Equivalents

Once records are received through the correct process, staff may evaluate completed courses or equivalents. This review helps identify what the student has already completed and what may still be needed. It is not the same as promising that every course will apply.

Families should expect staff to look at the student’s actual academic history. A course title, grade, or credit value may not tell the whole story by itself. Staff review gives the school a clearer basis for building the next step.

Step 5: Build a 24-Credit Graduation Plan

RCA International high school graduation requires 24 credits. After reviewing completed work, staff may help build an education or graduation plan that identifies what has been completed and what remains. The plan may include remaining required credits, recommended next courses, and possible timing considerations.

The plan should be based on review. It should not be treated as a guaranteed graduation date or a promise that the student will complete courses within a certain timeframe. Student progress depends on placement, course completion, communication, and the approved pathway.

What Families May Receive After Review

After review, families may receive guidance about placement, completed-course evaluation, remaining credits, tuition path, and next enrollment steps. The information depends on the student’s records.

A family might learn that additional documentation is needed. Another family might receive a clearer picture of which courses should be taken next. A homeschool family might need to explain completed coursework in more detail. An international family might need help understanding how previous records are interpreted for online-from-home study.

Tuition Questions for Transfer Families

Transfer families should ask which tuition path applies before making assumptions. Full-time annual tuition is $5,000 USD paid in full. The full-time annual payment plan is a $500 deposit plus $500 per month for 10 months, totaling $5,500 USD. Hybrid or custom standard courses are $300 USD per course per term or semester.

If the student does not need a full-time path, staff can discuss whether another option may fit. Pricing should be connected to the student’s reviewed plan.

Tips Before Transferring

Families can prepare by gathering prior school names, grade history, approximate completed courses, and questions about timing. They do not need to solve every credit question before reaching out. In fact, the purpose of the review process is to avoid guessing.

The best next step is a transcript review conversation through inquiry. RCA International staff can then explain what records may be needed and how the student’s completed work may fit into an online high school path.
